Truthfully - Sports Medicine has to do with all of those things and more. It's anything or any professional that allows active people to stay active or continue to move optimally and function better. Sports Medicine often, but not always, has to do with injury as well. The goal is to optimize the health of active people; farmers, mom's, kids, RCMP, firefighters, rodeo athletes, swimmers, hikers, hunters - everyone. (really though - aren't we all active in some capacity??)
Now that we've discussed who can benefit from Sports Medicine, who are the professionals vested in keeping "you" (whoever you are) doing what you love?
Sports Medicine is really many things for "Everyone" that wants it...then there are many types of professionals who can provide these products or services including but not limited to:
massage therapists doctors
nutritionists personal trainers
exercise scientists athletic therapists
coaches sport administrators and more.
Some of these professionals may not necessarily classify themselves as Sports Medicine specialists, but once they work as a team for a common goal of helping to keep someone achieving their "life" goals, they realize they become part of something bigger than one professional helping one client.
This umbrella of professional care is what a "consumer" should experience when seeking Sports Medicine - a proactive team approach to client care.
